Su función principal será atender cualquier denuncia, queja o reporte sobre la comisión de presuntos delitos, apoyos provenientes de grupos alzados en armas o delincuenciales, faltas disciplinarias o irregularidades en la ejecución de recursos públicos. El Decreto explica el procedimiento a seguir en caso de se allegue denuncia. Los funcionarios que conforman la Unidad de Reacción Inmediata para la Transparencia Electoral se desplazarán de inmediato al lugar de los hechos, con el personal que fuere necesario, para realizar los procedimientos y adoptar las medidas que establece la ley en cada caso. La Unidad de Reacción Inmediata para la Transparencia Electoral contará con líneas telefónicas gratuitas 018000 a disposición de la ciudadanía a nivel nacional, para recibir quejas y denuncias electorales. Con el apoyo de la Comisión Nacional de Televisión y los demás medios de comunicación, se difundirá la creación, funcionamiento y actividades de la Unidad.
